Workshop session on Pharmaceutical surveillance

The event was held in the form of the workshop.
1. Theoretical part:
– setting goals and objectives of the workshop: pharmaceutical surveillance for sore throat and proper counseling;
– advanced homework on the "Sore throat" topic, dividing Pharmacy students of class 210 into small groups;
– a summary of the basics of the workflow (causes of sore throat, dangerous symptoms, creating the interview for patients, working with reference books, Internet resources, making a list of an appropriate OTC drugs);
– demonstration of the technology process (video; demonstration of a variant of the pharmaceutical surveillance for headaches by Pharmacy students of class 310).
2. Practical part:
– working in small groups to discuss issues of pharmaceutical surveillance for sore throat (causes of pain in the throat; dangerous symptoms; algorithm of interviewing the client; reasons for providing assistance with non-prescription medicines; self-treatment drugs for sore throat)
– creating an algorithm of a conversation with a client who asked for help with a sore throat in the process of discussion the;
– working with reference books: making a list of OTC drugs for sore throat;
– proper counseling when issuing OTC drugs for sore throat (rational use of drugs, general recommendations; special aspects of the dosage forms for sore throat);
– product demonstration – information sheets, booklets, etc. (students demonstrate samples of homework on the "Sore throat" topic);
3. Summing up:
– review and discussion of the presented works;
– general discussion (participants discuss the problems and difficulties arising in the process of studying the topic);
– answering the questions asked by workshop's participants;
– self-reflexive exercise on the given lesson by teacher.
